Typically projects we undertake focus on either improving accounting processes or on using management or cost accounting within the wider business. For ease of understanding, we tend to group projects into the five services described below; though most client projects require a combination of these services.



Discovery: Requirements and Recommendation 
– This service includes both a focused review of your accounting and an organizational review of cost and managerial accounting use. Work includes an examination of existing processes and systems, management interviews and surveys, and modeling of other reporting or process options. These types of projects conclude either with a letter of recommendations to management or a more formal report and management presentation. Generally these include a proposal for additional work by Spontaneous Order.

Rock Solid Accounting: Process Development
This service is about getting execution right within the accounting function. Typically, these projects involve reworking the accounting General Ledger by rebuilding the list of accounts used. This requires changes to how accounting entries are prepared and how reports are compiled. Spontaneous Order will manage the software setup changes and ensure that department procedures and compilation tools are revised to reflect the changes. These projects result in accurate, understandable reports delivered on a consistent basis.

Best Fit: Software Selection 
These projects start by defining software requirements and generating a preliminary shortlist of possible software choices. Spontaneous Order will then contact each vendor and describe your requirements in general terms. This allows us to further screen for requirements fit and conformance to other project requirements such as budget and schedule. Since we are independent of all accounting software providers, we are able to rigorously test software resellers claims about functionality. These projects end with a selection recommendation supported by criteria and evaluation of alternatives.

Custom Application Development
 Occasionally a client will have a process that is central to their operation and also highly unique. If no acceptable software can be identified, Spontaneous Order will document your requirements and begin a custom development.

Implementation: Putting "Take Action" to Work
Projects within this service are about building skill sets in the broader organization for using financial measures and reports. For your business to work it must manage organizational process complexity and achieve certain levels of cost performance. Take Action Accounting is about getting this cost and other performance information to the employees who have the ability to shape and improve business performance. Reporting should be focused on the employee or work team receiving it and should be more specific than just distributing a list of actual versus budget variances. We provide training in how to understand and how to use financial reports where necessary.
